Or another possibility would be to connect by bus to Amtrak in Grand Rapids, which does connect by train to Chicago and other points in Michigan. I'm a huge rail fan, have utilized train service throughout my life, but at this point it's hard to see that TC has enough population density to make regular passenger service feasible. We should keep working on it, though!

I'm not sure how long you have been around the area but there is more than just the ONE restroom at Hull park. I agree there should be something directly downtown but the closest option is the visitors center at Union & the Pkwy. There is also one at the old zoo site, but don't even think about trying to use the one at the marina, it's publicly private!

I mean you want people to come to this town , shop , walk the riverwalk, and enjoy the place but god forbid you gotta use a bathroom , I know of one public bathroom in the town and it's at the little park behind the library ,that's just a little to far to walk to from front street

I totally agree tyler that making trails for bikers would help in traverse city not only the tourist but the people who live here. alot of us like to ride bikes or go for walks and nature is a beautiful thing. yes defently make it more efficient for people who enjoy those kind of things.

Being a tourist town, TC should consider more areas than the bay alone. Though it is kinda the main attraction, other areas might benefit from bike trails as well. I'm not saying it should be priority one, just that it should be considered among priorities...

Well don't plan on having clean bathrooms this year. The commission went against the staff suggestions and took low bid again this year. They did the same thing last year and had to get a different company to come in and "rescue" the bathrooms from the horrid condition they were in. Don't say you weren't warned commissioners.

I'm nervous about a biomass generator. It seems to me like a stepping stone technology, kind of like the laserdisc. Yeah that was cool but obsolete before we got our moneys worth out of the player. From what I understand a biomass generator releases greenhouse gasses at a comparable rate to a fossil fuel generator. It means we're using less fossil fuels, which is good, but we are simply using another form of sequestered carbon. If we build one now, I believe it will be to new to scrap for a technology that efficiently uses a source that doesn't add to our pollution problem when it comes along.

I think our very biggest priority should be the intersection of Division and Grandview. The biggest problem is cars that are turning right--eastward-- from Division onto Grandview Parkway. The walk light is on for a mere seconds before it goes to not walk. No one could ever make it across in that time. Yet drivers look at the walk signal and think they can immediately proceed and begin driving. It's is simply dangerous and frightening trying to cross the street. My suggestion. Make a right turn for cars allowable ONLY with a green arrow; this should occur when no pedestrians are crossing.

Other suggestions: Please fix up the bathrooms near Clinch Park. They reflect poorly on the city. (BTW, thanks so much for the portable bathroom at Darrow Park; much needed).

I just read a suggestion to revive train service to Chicago. For immediate service either a private or public shuttle by luxury bus I think would be successful. It is already established between Detroit and Chicago with the train stations as pick up and drop off. When I lived in Jackson Hole, Wy. there was a successful daily shuttle to Salt Lake City and back that was privately owned. I personally would use both a shuttle to Detroit and Chicago to visit family if it was non-stop and comfortable rather than drive myself.
